It is January 4th.

There are a lot of people now who are probably beating themselves up. They have not done what they said they would have for 2011.

I was that guy.

Growing up I was a huge New Year’s Resolution maker. I wrote down lists, I promised myself I would achieve my dreams, and then strangely I would not achieve my dreams. It did not matter, because there was always next year.

When I decided to lose 50 pounds when I was 14 years old, I did it in February. When I lost 80 pounds before I met my wife, it was in May. When I decided to lose 200 pounds, it was in February and when I decided to gain muscle, it was in March.

People get tied up with Jan. 1st.

Yet, I think that setting goals in life is very important. It does not have to be losing weight. It can be gaining muscle, saving money, or meeting that special someone.

The thing is, it has to be when you are ready.

A lot of times, people pressured me to lose weight.

There is a lot of pressure now being that it is the beginning of 2011. There are commercials for gyms, diet centers and pills everywhere. Everyone needs to eat better because it is 2011. You have to do it…and you have to do it now!

The truth is, you have to be ready. You have to want it.

Not just say you want it on a Facebook status or Tweet that you want it, but really want it.

You have to know that there are going to be sacrifices to change your life. There are going to be good times, and there are going to be rough patches. People can support you and inspire you, but are you willing to take the leap?

I do not know if you are ready for the leap.

Most of you have just found me. New Years can do that to a weight loss blog.

I will admit, I have had a few extra hits on my site with people Googling “Inspiration”, “How to lose 200 pounds”, “Gain Muscle and Lose Fat”, and “Hot Sexy Ass Vagina“.

So today is January 4th. There are over 300 days left in 2011. Hell, there are a ton of New Years left in 2011.

If you did not eat the way you wanted to so far, it is okay. If you did not work out like you wanted to, it is okay.

When though? When is it not okay? When you are 200 pounds? 300 pounds? When you spent all of your money?

When is it going to be a good time for you to achieve your goals? When do you want to go to the gym? When do you want to be more active?

I can not answer that.

I think many of you have come here for some answers. I do not have any. In fact, I am not even close to a guru. I am not a master at anything and not an expert in much, except for 80’s pop music.

I have a good memory though.

I remember coughing blood, not being able to wipe myself in the bathroom. I remember not being able to put on a seat belt and having a hard time breathing. I remember walking on the treadmill for 48 seconds and people telling me I was crazy to work out like I do.

This was all less than three years ago.

It would hypocritical for me to tell you to do it now.

I waited over 30 years…….

30 years of empty promises.
30 years of failure.
30 years of knowing what to do and not doing it.

I will tell you…today is January 4th. Three years ago on January 4th, I did not think there would be a January 5th for me.

Maybe today is a good day to achieve your goals after all.
